Formlery know as BATMAN, now named HARVEY, is an extremenly smart, brave and loyal Treeing-Walker Coonhound mix. A breed which is commonly know as "The People's Choice". This breed is know for their affection and friendliness towards people and fellow dogs as well as their great agility and strength when on a hunt. Anyone that has walked into my house has been warmly welcomed by Harvey with a wagging tail! He loves to cuddle on the couch in the evenings and exercise in the mornings. When he is given permission, Harvey gives the best hugs jumping up and holding on to you tight with his paws...cue the aww! Harvey's favorite thing to do is go on trail runs and hikes with his foster family and pups. He is so extraordinary to watch as he maneuvers through thick brush, water, rocks, and trees with ease. His protective coat and thick paw pads protect him from all terrain. His breeds short, slick coat repels dirt and water, making him super easy to groom and keep smelling fresh! Owning a Treeing Walker Coonhound can be all fun and games, but it also comes with a great amount of commitment and responsibility to keep up with their high-energy needs. Harvey is looking for an active family that enjoys hikes, and will commit to continued training with Harvey as he matures into his best self. He is looking for a home that has a large yard or farm to live happily ever after in :) Personality & Characteristics: My foster dog is good with: Adults, calm and respectful childre and other dogs. NOT good with cats or small animals! Foster is working on his relationship with cats. My foster dog is: Working on obediance and overcoming anxiety through training and confidence building activities/outings. 3 Keywords for your pup: Loyal, driven, and friendly Energy Level: High energy! Athough, when properly exercised and enriched, can be calm and snuggly. Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Treeing-Walker Hounds are prone to raucous bouts of barking. He can be very loud when aroused or upset. Walking Manners: Leash manners have recently become a strength. He can properly "heel" (will move to get behind owner and sit/walk one heel strike behind owner) until relased "away" when prompted. Appetite/diet: Highly food motivated and eats 2 meals a day. He loves raw fruits and veggies. He is noted to have bowel issues when given chicken-based products.Currently eats Turkey, lamb, duck, bison based food. Does the following: He willingly tolerates baths, daily tooth brushing, daily grooming, monthly nail trimming and paw cleaning after outside time on muddy days. He also tolerates car rides but requires proper equipment to keep him safe and in his seat. Training: He has name identification "Harvey" and will look at you when he is not highly distracted. He has been provided with a consistent daily routine along with multiple daily training sessions from his foster parents. He is crate trained for daily use and sleeping. He has worked on confidence building, basic obediance, and leash manners. He is working on waiting at thresholds until released to go through a gate or door. Favorite Things: Hikes, training, playing with other dogs, fetch, tug of war, flirt pole play, soft dog beds, human affection. When Harvey requires a correction, he will respond to "No" and "Ah ah". Commands/tricks: "Sit", "Down", "Place" - down stay on a designated surface until relased, "Come, "Spin", "Heel", "Up", "Off", "Lets go" - when on a walk and needs to be redirected. Health: Harvey is a young & healthy dog with UTD vaccinations. ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract.
