Alice, no one needs a Looking Glass to see how beautiful you are. Alice is one snuggly cutie who's only in the shelter because she's cautious and withdrawn meeting new people. Alice isn't a jumping, "Pick Me! Pick me!" type of girl, which means you still have a chance to adopt this precious, soft, snuggly girl.Just driving home from the shelter to her foster home Alice opened up just enough to give neck snuggles to the driver. Right after getting home, Alice was a trooper while we bathed her, standing still for the most thorough washing and drying, no barking or whining. Now she's a sweet-smelling girl on the prowl for her permanent home.On day one Alice went from cautious and withdrawn, not even accepting treats, to walking like a dream on the leash, licking peanut butter off our fingers and playing so very well with our permanent rescue from PAWS, a 4-year-old male Boxer mix. They run, play, pounce, growl, play bite, and roll around until they're both exhausted without ever getting overly intense. It's all good fun. Alice would be a solid playmate for most any dog, and though we don't have cat experience, she doesn't seem to have a strong prey drive. A slow introduction should suffice to introduce Alice to a cat.Alice would be superb as a quiet, chill roommate for older folks, families with small children (Alice takes treats very gently), and anyone in-between. If you want a non-stop motion and noise machine of a dog, Alice isn't for you. She's more smooth jazz over driving rock and roll.As with all of our fosters, we work hard on basic training: house training, sit/down/no, leash training, stopping at the door for paw wiping before tracking dirt into the house, no toy or resource guarding, taking treats gently, socialization with our goofy Boxer, no barking whether we're home or gone (we use a pet cam), and getting used to LOTS of car rides.Alice is a gem of a girl who's only at the shelter because she's a wall flower around new people. Take her home and you'll see why this special girl is the total package.
