My name is Roxy, and I've had quite the journey so far. I'm a smaller pittie mix with a tri-colored coat, born in June of 2021. Life hasn't been all smooth sailing for me, but I'm here to show you that resilience and determination are my middle names. My story began when I was left overnight at Sangamon County Animal Control in December of 2022. It's possible that my previous owners faced difficulties in dealing with my health issues, which led them to surrender me. But that's all in the past, and I'm looking forward to a brighter future. Since my arrival at the APL I have received medical care and have been given a clean bill of health. I struggle making good first impressions. I get scared and defensive when people approach my shelter enclosure. It's not personal, I promise. I've had my share of uncertainties, and sometimes, my communication skills come off as a bit intense inside a kennel. If you're willing to offer a chance to a dog who's been through the wringer and is eager to find a place to call home, I'd be honored to be your Roxy.
