** $10 in pledges to the rescue that pulls! ** Per staff 4/22: Slick Rick was laying in his bed when we approached his handler. He came up to the door when leash was presented and was very easy to leash and lead out of the shelter. He walked nicely on leash and appears to be housebroken. He kept a nice pace while walking and would often stop to solicit attention from his handler. He allowed all handling and lightly jumped up on his handler for petting. We brought him in the yard and he was content sitting on the bench while being pet. Per volunteer 4/21: While Slick Rick is stressed in the shelter environment after we spent some time together he started showing off his affectionate personality. He solicited pets and wagged his tail when pet and even climbed into my lap to give me little kisses. He seemed very happy to be a lap dog and nuzzled into my arms a few times while we were together. He was calm on leash and interested in passing dogs. (I know he's had a few good dog meets.) Overall he was a big lover boy who just needed a little time to warm up. On 4/17 staff noted "Took Slick Rick out for activity time. He was very aroused in kennel and wouldn't jump down. I tried scattering treats but eventually had to just open it and got him leashed despite him trying to break out. Once we got to the eval room, he was very treat motivated, searching around for scattered treats and then came over to get pets. He jumped up on the bench with me and loved getting butt scratches. He's getting a bit less anxious!" Dog meet 4/11. He had no reactivity and was generally interested in other dogs, but is very anxious and has a difficult time maintaining concentration.
