Like so many other sweet cats that are dumped outside with no idea how to defend themselves, Target has tested FIV+. We are sure after target has time to adjust he will be the same loveable companion that he was in his foster home. Target is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and ready for his forever home. This kitty has tested positive for FIV, similar to HIV in people. It can not be transmitted through casual contact, sharing food, water, or a litter box. It can not be transmitted to people or other pet species. It is typically only transmitted to other cats via a deep bite wound. FIV positive cats can live long and healthy lives! They do tend to have more dental issues and absolutely must be kept safely indoors at all times.
