From a volunteer: Poppet is a highly intelligent, friendly, and very active dog, who prefers being outside to inside. Poppet enjoyed the ride to the Archeological Survey, but preferred being the navigator to the backseat driver. He was very rambunctious when I first brought him to the Archeological Survey. He quickly entertained himself with every toy in my office. He went from one to another of the toys. When Poppet became bored with them, he paced and whined a lot. He easily jumped the gate in front of my office door multiple times today to get into the main area. He is a gazelle and will likely be able to jump a short fence around a backyard. We went for a long walk around south campus and Poppet still had a load of energy. He needs work on a leash. Poppet has a tendency to pull hard on the lead because he wants to run around. He also wants to chase vehicles, which is not a good situation if he is allow to roam free. He is very observant of all the outside activities around him on our walks. Especially, the construction activities for the new softball field. Poppet knows the sit, get down, and "no" commands pretty well. He can be hard-headed when he didn't want to follow me, preferring to go in another direction. I didn't let him get away with it and told him to come. Sometimes, I had to pull him and he soon followed. By the afternoon, Poppet settled down as long as I was in my office, and slept. Poppet is well behaved and just has a lot of energy. We let him run free in the main office area during lunch and threw the toys and balls to him. He ran around and loved interacting with us. Poppet needs an equally active family to run/walk/challenge him. He is a young, sweet, great looking dog. He has a wonderful personality.
