Zena is the longest resident in Better World Rescue. The odds are stacked against her as a large shy, black girl, but she is an absolute love with those she trusts. Zena is the sweetest lady that will win your heart - but slow and steady! She is generally skeptical of new people, but once she has met you, she warms up so quick! This love bug loves to play with squeaky stuffed toys, balls, and snack on healthy, treat-laden kongs. In her current foster home, Zena has experienced all sorts of other animals. She's done well with dog-savvy cats, other dogs of all temperaments while on-leash, dog savvy children, and even chinchillas and chickens! Zena doesn't react to dogs that might approach her with aggression, she just keeps wagging her tail and moves on to find someone who wants to play. She is working on remembering her size and being gentle living with other dogs. She can sometimes get mad when another dog takes a prized toy, but allows humans to take her toys with little issue. Zena is currently very over-weight and needs to go from 80lbs down to a healthier goal of 65lbs. To do this safely, she will need a loving sponsor to help her follow her weight loss plan over the course of a couple months. Her plan includes a healthy diet and regular short walks. Zena is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and is microchipped. If you have space in your home and heart for a sweet gal who needs a loving friend, please reach out to meet Zena!
