Standard grey male chinchilla -- "Luigi"Born approx. 5/2012 -- 11 years old **Luigi came into the rescue with his buddy Mario, who unfortunately was sick and had to be euthanized. He was then adopted out to a home with another chinchilla, introduced, and the two got along beautifully... until his new buddy also passed away. Now, he's back and is looking for his lifelong friend!** **Luigi is currently living at a foster home in Auburn, Indiana. He can be adopted / picked up directly from his foster home, or he can also be brought back to the farm in Wolcott for an adoption as well** Here's what Luigi's foster home has to say about him: "So far, he's been very curious of me! He likes to nibble on fingers (especially finger nails) but it isn't hard enough to hurt. He likes to come to the front of the cage and see what everyone is doing. So far, he also likes when the cat sits near the cage too. One of our cats likes to stand on her hind legs and look into the cage and he gets right up in front of her and just talks. Not angry barks, just the normal chitter he does with Dan [the foster's pet chinchilla]. He also likes standing on the air vent on the floor. He digs at it and it makes very interesting noises (that I think he likes)." The care packet talks about the care and needs of the specific animal the home is looking to adopt. The adoption form asks questions about the type of home the animal will be going into, what type of cage will be used, what type of food the animal will be fed, and so on - questions to verify that the pet will be cared for well in its new home. There is no application fee with our rescue, the only fees are the adoption fees for the pets.Shelter locationVisiting our adoptable animals requires an appointment. To make an appointment with us, give us a call 219-789-XXXX. The rescue is run out of our house, so we are not always home for someone to view the animals. We are home most afternoons/evenings, and people are welcome to come visit then (after having called and set up an appointment).
