Bullet, Silver For Adoption In San Jose, California

Location:
San Jose, CA
Description:

Bullet is our longest resident. He came in at 4 months old surrendered with his brother by someone who said they had an accidental litter who sold all but two. We found out later that she was a backyard breeder. Both of them were very sick with eye, ear, upper respiratory infections and ear mites. With the help of Dr. Cheung we nursed them back to health. Silver found a foster who absolutely adores him and him her he decided he really wants to stay forever with her and his best friend who's a kitty. Bullet had an adopter, but she ended up in a situation that made her unable to adopt. We found another adopter for him and another bunny. They bonded easily and we were arranging a day for the adopter to come as she lives quite far so it was going to be a couple months. In the meantime, Bullet was scheduled to get neutered. Then we discovered Bullet had developed abscesses on his chest usually caused by bacteria in the blood. His past of being bred and kept in a dirty hutch outside was the key to this. With the help of Dr. Stern and the public we were able to attend to all his medical needs and nurse him through his recovery. When Dr. Stern confirmed all were completely gone at his last check up we finally were able to schedule his neuter with Dr. Cheung. We arranged for his adopter to come get Bullet after the neuter/recovery. The night before his surgery it was discovered his bunwife, an older lop, had passed away. She had recently seen the vet and all urine and blood tests came back good. She had ate all her pellets and her evening greens. There was no sign of sickness. No reason was found. She just slipped away in her sleep. Bullet laid on top of her and wouldn't allow her to be taken. It is very important for bunnies to mourn their bunny mates or they can become extremely depressed. They let you know when they are ready to say good-bye. Bullet stayed with her the whole night only allowing her to be taken a little bit before leaving for his neuter. His neuter went well and he recovered wonderfully. He was very sad about his bunwife though and we knew he needed a friend before becoming too depressed. We had another bunny his same age that we were asked to assist in rehoming. Bun Bun had been brought to the front door of a wonderful family by a a cat that had her in its mouth. She was only about a month old. The family got her help and raised and took care of her along with their vet, but the family soon learned they had a rabbit allergy. They tried everything but nothing helped. We asked if they thought she might like a friend. We arranged for them to meet. It was love at first site. They were meant for each other. Both Bullet & Bun Bun were ready to finally go to their forever home. The date we had arranged for their pickup came and went. We tried and tried to reach their adopter, but no response. When we finally heard from them it was discovered their car window was smashed, purse/phone taken and right after that they suffered a tragic loss in their family. They still wanted Bullet/BunBun when we asked. We then lost all contact with them. We finally had to give a final date for contacting us or they would be put back up for adoption. The day came and went. The person Bullet had waited for for so long was never coming for him. They are both very sweet and silly. They would really love a forever home. They're entire setup comes with them including xpen, bowls, gravity waterer, litter box, toys, litter, treats, etc. Bun Bun's family donated all her things and we are sending it all with her and Bullet to their forever home. They will bring so much joy to you.##1580814##Adoption processPlease note that all information submitted by the applicant will be kept confidential and only used to approve or deny the adoption of a bunny(ies) and serve as part of the adoption record. Clover Hop Bunny Friends is with you every step of the way when adopting your new bunny companion. Our adoption process makes certain the bunny you adopt is the right match for you and your family and that you know how to properly care for your bunny before you head home. Both Pre and Post-adoption we are always available for any questions, concerns or advice you may need. With the proper care and attention, house rabbits can live to be around 10-12 years old. After we review your application we will contact you and ask you any additional questions we may have and give you the opportunity to have all your questions answered. The next step is to setup an appointment for you to meet the bunny(ies) you are interested in adopting. We request that everyone in the household be present for this appointment so that we can make sure the bunny(ies) is the right match for the whole family. We also want to make sure there are no hidden bunny allergies among the household members. If you are adopting a bunny to be a friend to another bunny(ies) you will be asked to bring this bunny(ies) as well so that we can make the introductions and bond the bunnies. Bonding can be dangerous and can end with bad injuries if not done properly. If all works out, you will be asked to sign an adoption contract, pay the adoption donation fee and go through a rabbit care and safety lesson. You will then be ready to take your new friend home. Clover Hop Bunny Friends adopts to indoor only homes and adoptions are intended to be permanent for the life of the bunny. You are not to surrender the bunny to any shelter, give the bunny away or sell the bunny. If a situation comes up that you believe hinders you from keeping your bunny, then you must contact Clover Hop Bunny Friends so that we can help you work through it or if absolutely necessary make arrangements for the bunny to come back to us. Clover Hop Bunny Friends strives to make the adoption process as seamless and as enjoyable as possible. We are excited to be able to assist you in your search of a bunny companion.
