Rose2, Dachshund For Adoption In Brookfield, Connecticut

Price:
$200
Location:
Brookfield, CT
Description:

Rose is a sweet girl with a big personality. At 12 years old and 13.5lbs, she was rescued from a commercial breeder where she'd lived her whole life. Due to her traumatic past she is very nervous in new environments and averse to being touched. Whilst this may never change, she has already made huge progress in her foster home. Rose is looking for a loving home with people who can love her quirks and be with her a lot of the time. Environment Rose is fully crate trained and house trained but will sometimes poop from fear if touched or picked up. She does especially well with routine. She is extremely fearful of a harness so she won’t walk on harness or leash, and will need her new home to have a fenced backyard to get her exercise and feel her freedom. She’s very good—no digging, no prey drive, she’s just a roaming explorer. Rose doesn’t bark a lot so shared walls would be ok, but as the backyard is not negotiable this rules out most apartments. Rose is very food motivated and trainable so she’s been learning basic commands and how to use a ramp to get on the furniture. Be sure to give her space if she chooses to share furniture with you and use high value treats to coax her in vulnerable situations. She LOVES food and hops up on her back legs when it’s meal time, ready to be your sous chef. Pets & People Rose adores other dogs and must be in a home with playmates! She gets so excited around other dogs that her tail almost becomes a propeller. As mentioned, she’s scared of people touching her but she still wants her people around. She loves company and will always prefer your company to being alone. She shows her love and appreciation in other ways, and her big expressive eyes will melt your heart. She is untested with children and caution will be needed since they can be unpredictable but she won’t mind them if they respect her boundaries. Health Rose can get queasy in the car but Benadryl has helped in the past. She can’t go longer than 6 hours, and she will need time to get used to her crate for travel. If she is experiencing separation anxiety she shreds boxes or paper or gets into food, so take care not to leave these things accessible if she’s left alone! Location Rose is available for adoption from Christiansburg, VA. Please email XXXX@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Rose is $200. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 3, 2024, 10:17 amAdoption process6 Step Adoption Process 1) Application - (While we encourage you to let us know on your application if one of our dogs has captured your interest, we use this simply as a guide for matching and your listing of specific dog in no way implies claim to this particular dog) NOTE: Adoption Applications expire 6 months from the date of receipt. If you have already submitted an Adoption Application and it has been longer than 6 months, you will need to fill out a new Adoption Application. 2) Reference Checks - All references will be checked prior to home visit. We will contact your current vet, if you have one, for a reference. 3) Application Review - Processor reviews the application, calls the vet if you have one, verifies vaccinations and spay/neuter. We email personal references (if email is provided) or call them if necessary. Email is best since as references can respond when they are available. 4) Home Visit - A volunteer will come to your home to visit with you and discuss care of dachshunds. Also, the volunteer will look for any potential problems and check to be sure that your fencing is secure. Your home visit does not mean you have been approved. 5) Approval - After the above steps have been completed all your information will be reviewed and a decision will be made about adoption. If at this point you are approved to adopt, LPDR will help guide you to the appropriate dog for your family. 6) Contract - For the protection of the dogs we place, everyone that adopts a dachshund from LPDR will be required to sign an adoption contract.Shelter locationAre you looking for an opportunity to foster a dachshund? Fostering is our transitional step from a shelter/surrender to a forever home. During this time it’s important that we give each dachshund a safe environment where it can learn to trust again, to heal and to learn how to become a loving family member. Many of the dachshunds that we pull from shelters or receive from an owner surrender just need a temporary home until their new forever home can be found.
