American Pit Bull Terrier Mix Dog for Adoption in Wilmington, North Carolina, 28408 USNickname: Maya Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Please be her family - Maya is 8, and was with the same people until they surrendered her to a shelter in SC and we don't know why. The shelter didn't or couldn't provide that info. Maya is intelligent, a quick learner, sweet, and is housebroken. She is accustomed to being let outside in a fenced-in area but she is good on a leash, and likes car rides. Maya doesn't like big dogs at first - she barks and feels threatened, likely due to past trauma but she seems to like little dogs! (no barking and wags tail). She does not seem to be threatened in any other way except with big dogs. We’re not sure how she is with cats, she only appeared curious. She has not lived with cats and dogs in her past. She plays with toys, loves tug-o-war, is protective, and loves being inside with her person/people (couch potato.) She's had regular vet visits and is healthy but has mild arthritis.
