Shirley Temple is an unusually happy and energetic girl who is full of beans! She was abandoned at the gate of a shelter in Mississippi and is thought to be a Giant Schnauzer mix, although we think we see some Labrador Retriever, too. She appears to be at least a year old. Everyone who has encountered Shirley Temple describes her as "happy." Very happy. Always happy. Shirley Temple is living with a loving foster family and doing great! She loves everyone she meets but may be slow to warm up but give her a little time and she will be your new best friend. She tends to be very hyper, so older and smaller resident pets may find her to be a little bit too much, but we believe that she would thrive in a home with another active and exuberant dog to help her burn off all of that energy. Shirley Temple adores playing, including squeaky toys, fetch, chase, and rough wrestling. She is extremely affectionate, and when she's tired, she enjoys laptime, too. She is house trained, crate trained, and is working on leash training, and is already making progress. We strongly recommend obedience classes for all of our dogs, so you can both learn commands together, and it helps the dog build confidence and socialization skills. It's also fun! Shirley Temple is a truly joyful dog who is always ready for anything, and she will do best in an active household where she gets lots of exercise and stimulation.
