Adopt VAN GOGH a Black American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed dog in Charlotte

Location:
Charlotte, NC
Description:

contact foster parent at XXXX@yahoo.comVan Gogh`s love for humans and affection amazes us given the cruelty he faced earlier in his life when someone cut off both of his ears entirely. He is the sweetest dog, so lovable and easy-going. What he lacks in ears, he makes up for in heart! •Well-mannered: Calm, doesn`t jump, gentle taking treats, not reactive to noises/other dogs barking. •People friendly: Cutest butt wiggles when someone will pet him. Loves being around his humans and likes to cuddle•Seems good with children: Came across a little girl on a walk who wanted to pet him and he was very sweet and calm with her. Didn`t react to passing strollers or other children•Dog friendly: Walks well side by side with my two dogs. Good demeanor when he sees other dogs on walks- occasionally he will whine or pull a little but seems fairly easy to redirect his attention•House trained: Can be left alone without any issues- does not bark or get into things and has not had any accidents•Leash trained•Knows some commands: Does `sit` consistently in the house (less consistent outside with distractions but we`re working on it). Learning to be more consistent with `lay/down`, `come` and `stay` but he seems to have had some knowledge of these commands before. •Crate trained: I put him in the crate to sleep at night although he really doesn’t need it, it`s more just in case someone wants him to have some experience with crates. He will whine for about 2-3min and then he settles down and is quiet. •Seems like he potentially would be okay with slow intros to cats: Does not seem to have prey drive- while sitting on my balcony he has seen an opossum and stray cat and he watched them but just kept lying there pretty chill and wasn`t making any noises. We`ve passed squirrels a number of times on walks and he hasn`t been reactive. We did some minimal cat testing and he was allowed to smell the cat while it was held, he was wagging his tail but he just seemed too excited to let them interact more. He was pretty focused on watching the cat but then when it wasn`t in sight he redirected his attention and wasn`t trying to get back into the other room to see it. He had a similar sort of reaction to my dogs initially but then after walking parallel for about 5-10min he was less interested and was no longer pulling to see/smell them•NOT cat friendly
