Dakota is an affectionate dog that loves attention. She wants to be with someone when they are home. She likes leash walks although she does pull some when she gets excited. She is a family dog that likes to be around people; although I must warn you, she thinks she is a lap dog. She is good with children but does pose a knock over risk to smaller or younger ones. Her ideal home is one where she is an only pet and can be the center of attention, but this is not a requirement. She would be great for a veteran who needs some emotional support and we would be honored to help a service member. She is a large dog and not great at listening because no one has ever worked with her and my training skills are limited, so we making arrangements to get her into a training program. She is being sponsored by one of our supporters so there is no adoption fee for the adopter (s). She has been with the rescue, which is like being in boarding with other dogs, for 16 months. We try to give all the dogs as much attention as possible, but it is nothing compare to a family of her own.Adoption processWe make a great effort to rpocess our applications within 48 hours of submission.Shelter locationWe are located in Mechanicsville, MD but do not have a facility. Our dogs are with foster families in various locations so arrangements have to be made for potential adopters to meet the dogs.
