Coda, Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In Whitewater, Wisconsin

Price:
$4,500
Location:
Whitewater, WI
Description:

Say hi to Coda! She’s one of the sweetest kittens you'll ever meet, and has two great loves in life: food and other cats. If you're looking for a little foodie who brings happiness and harmony to your home, Coda is your perfect match. Coda's bright, curious eyes are always eager to explore and discover new adventures, especially at the top of the cat tower. She also loves snuggling and spending time with the older cats in the household, always managing to win them over with her head butts. If they’re not available, she’s very happy to snuggle up in a cozy human elbow nook too. Coda is a playful and inquisitive kitten who adores interactive toys, and would thrive in a home with one of her siblings (Crescendo, Pitch, Treble, Cadenza, Trill) or with an older feline friend to share her journey. Coda has genetic megacolon, which is a chronic condition that affects the large intestine and can cause severe constipation if left untreated. We discovered this after a few of her littermates had GI issues. Good hydration, stool softeners, and monitoring can help prevent progression of the disease. Coda hasn’t had issues to date and her X-rays showed improvement with lactulose one to two times daily—this is a prescription stool softener that can be purchased inexpensively at a human pharmacy. If her condition worsens in the future, she may benefit from enemas or a surgery to remove the affected portion of colon. This surgery can be expensive (~$4500) but does have a good prognosis. We don't know if or when she will require additional care, but adopters should be prepared for potential medical expenses. If the need arises and adopters choose to proceed with surgery, Community Cat will pay $1,000 towards the megacolon surgery bill to help offset the cost. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/megacolon-in-cats Approximate DOB: May 2023 Foster Home Location: Madison Consider adopting 2 kittens!
