Hey there, my name is Joe! I came up to Omaha from Arkansas. I’m a 2 year old, 17 lb Dachshund mix. They say my previous family kept me and my brother for two years and then one day decided to take us to a high kill shelter. Thankfully, we were rescued from that place. MDRN found me, and I ended up here in my loving foster home. Foster mom says that I am such a good boy and I have a smile that melts her heart! She says I have the most beautiful eyes she has ever seen and I have a cute little white tip on the end of my tail. I am potty trained, but I don’t know yet how to tell when I need to go out. If I get out regularly, I do just fine. I go into my crate without too much fuss, and I sleep through the night with a clean crate. I will dance on my hind legs for special treats! Not an match for apartment living, I am not comfortable on a leash. I love other dogs, squeaky toys, exploring the yard, napping, sitting by my foster mom, belly rubs, and giving kisses. I am currently learning how to walk on a leash. I can be kind of timid… New things, new sounds, and new people initially frighten me. I don’t like when strangers come in the house, but it takes me only about 10 seconds with some good treats to be their friend. I’ve never seen stairs before, but I’m pretty good at them now! Foster mama wonders if human hands haven’t always been kind to me. I get nervous and run when she tries to pick me up sometimes. I’m just a happy little soul and I’m waiting contently for my forever family to discover me. Fully vetted, microchipped, and ready for adoption.To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $325 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs. We do not ship dogs.All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first.
