This gorgeous dog is Kota, a 6yr old, spayed female Rottweiler. She needs a home with no cats and no small animals. Kota is a true joy to have with her sweet, loyal and obedient personality. Kota hangs out with us in our front office, greeting our volunteers and visitors. Kota is laid back and well behaved inside. Three play sessions a day are enough to keep her happy. She also likes walks outside to explore when it is not too hot. She likes to run around with a toy and tries to get you to chase her and get her toy. She likes to growl and play keep away, but because of this, we practice a lot, firmly telling her to give the toy to us. She has also growled over her food. For this reason, Kota needs an adult home or a home with older teenagers who can be a part of her training around her food. She is doing amazing with this training. Kota has been out with multiple dogs and has done well. She wants to play right away. She has done well with playful, non-challenging male dogs. She needs a calm, controlled introduction to a new dog because she has a growly and confident playstyle that the new dog needs to get used to. You can bring your dog by during our animal viewing hours below to see if they will play. Kota is very housebroken and great on leash. However, she does have a prey drive to small animals, especially squirrels. She needs a strong owner in case she sees them before you do. She will lay down next to you inside while you relax and she will give a little whine if she need to go out to go potty. Kota knows sit, down, paw, other paw, drop it, wait, leave it, stay, cookie, outside, go for a car ride, hungry and 'Go say hi'. She is such a smart girl! She needs continued training reminders around her toys and food to practice her skill of 'drop it'. We are looking for a home that will be a good match to help Kota succeed in her training. If you are confident and able to tell Kota what you want from her, she will be an amazing companion for you. You must be confident, consistent and firm in your training.
