Hi, I'm Alex and I'm ready to find my forever home. I was in pretty bad shape when I made my way to the shelter. I was so hungry that you could see each of my ribs, and talk about a bad hair day... you should have seen it! I've been in a foster home soaking up love and care, and I'm now ready to move on. I'm a bit shy at first, but once I get to know you I'm all about cuddles and love.I'm dog selective, and I like to be the alpha. I recommend you arrange for a sleepover if you have any other dogs, just to make sure we get along. I can be a little grumpy sometimes, so I probably wouldn't be a good fit for children. But so far I've loved all the adults I've met.I'm mostly house-trained, but I haven't figured out how to use a bell to alert you. If I start pacing and don't want to sit down, it's probably because I need to potty. I may also whine when I need to go out if you're not getting the message. I'm kennel trained, and it's a good idea to keep me there if you leave for work. Otherwise, I'm happy to be wherever you are.Here are a few tips to help me transition happily into your home:I'm lazy... but I do occasionally get the zoomies. If I've been napping, please wake me up, but give me a few moments to remember where I am before you ask me to move. Once I remember, then I'll happily move, go outside, go to my kennel, etc. But if you wake me or startle me, I may grumble at you a bit until I realize what's happening.Sometimes, I'm afraid of the dark, so if you have an outdoor light that I can use when I need to go to the bathroom in the evening, that would be great.I love playing both inside and outside, and I like hard bones to chew on.I also love to chew on shoes. The older and stinkier, the better, so please put your shoes away if you don't want a new fashion statement.I've got lots of love to give, but I've had a rough season in life recently so it would be great to find someone who has lots of love, care, and patience to adopt me.I hear my adoption fee is $50, I don't know what that means, but I promise I'm worth it.If you have any questions or would like to adopt Alexander, please reach out to the adoption group directly.
