Raise your hand if you love torties! I'm Tessa, a pretty adult tortoiseshell girl who came to Paws and Claws from another shelter, along with five other adult cats. If you knew me before I got here, you might do a double-take. I had been "standoffish" around people and other cats, but I've been making great progress in the short time I've been here. I was cautious and nippy, but with more attention, a cozy room, a big window with a nice view and friendly people who come to spend time with me, I now allow people to pet me for long periods of time. I let them pick me up, and I give "nose bump" kisses. I was once known for my "tortitude" - and well, I may still have some of that, but I have become much more tolerant. I still would do best in a home with older children and with more mellow cats. (Not sure if I've been around dogs.) Once you're familiar with me and my body language, I will "tell" you when I'm getting overwhelmed. So, pet me, love me, play with me, and adopt me!
