ALMOST PERFECT. Peri has a lot going for her. Just 2-1/2 years old, she has enough energy to be a great playmate or hiking companion, but is well past the puppy stage and will hang out on the couch with you if you’re having a lazy day. She’s house trained, crate trained and is getting the hang of leash walking (although she hasn’t learned to go potty while on leash yet). She gets along with people of all ages, as well as other dogs, and is healthy, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Peri is a little shy with strangers. She can be skittish even with those she knows, startling easily at loud noises and sudden movements. She doesn’t always come when called, so her adopter will need to work with her to develop a reliable recall. For that reason, we recommend a securely fenced yard and taking her out only on leash until she learns to come every time she is called. But she’s definitely worth it, and she’ll return your investment in training with a ton of love and affection. Save the Strays is participating in Clear the Shelters this year, so during August we have reduced Peri’s adoption fee to just $150.
