Oliver is a sweet old man. He’s a very laid back liver Dal who would love to be by your side, hanging out as much as possible. He is friendly with people, but can also be a bit aloof, as Dalmatians sometimes are. Oliver has a significant heart murmur (in the 4/6 range), so the goal is to always keep him calm and under threshold when meeting or interacting with other dogs. He has not been off leash with another dog since coming to foster to keep him from over-extending and stressing his heart. He does go on walks with other dogs, but we maintain a certain distance to keep him comfortable and not reacting. He doesn’t really require a lot of exercise. He does prefer walking with dogs that show ZERO interest in him. Dogs that get over-excited make him anxious and reactive. As with all Dalmatians, he does get the zoomies occasionally, but they don't last long! He does enjoy a good “sniff” when he’s allowed to leisurely stroll and smell everywhere his nose takes him. But, he is a tried and true couch potato. He is not interested in toys - really only wants food and pets - he LOVES watermelon. Oliver is a huge snuggle bug and loves to have a pillow to rest his head on. His ears are very sensitive to being touched, probably due to the long-term ear infections he suffered prior to coming to DRC. He can be quite spicy for ear cleanings and medications currently. He continues to be under the care of a veterinarian as they search for causes for the continuing ear infections. Oliver would do best as the only dog in the house. Cats are unknown. Due to the continuing ear infections and pain associated with that, no small children (under 10) will be considered.
