Cavatappi (or “Cavi”) is a sweet girl who has grown from 6 to 12 lbs in just 3 weeks! She is highly food motivated, which means she's highly trainable. She has already mastered “sit” and “shake” and we are working on potty training (including ringing a bell to ask to go outside) and sitting politely to receive her meals. She has adapted well to the crate at night and she loves to snuggle up with her stuffed "mommy’s heartbeat" toy.She loves the fishpond (she might be a water dog one day) and hiding out in “cave-like” spaces (under the sofa/ patio table). Playful and energetic, she travels well in the car, adores my 6-year-old lab and has been great with all the adult humans and kids she has met.Update 8/12/23: I was amazed to learn that although she arrived in Virginia with WTAR’s “C” litter (hence her name – all the puppies were named after types of pasta that begin with “C”) she was actually a stowaway - an orphaned puppy who wandered into the “C” litter’s yard in rural Mississippi and decided to stick around and join them for the ride up North.It’s hard to imagine Cavi’s teeny tiny self all alone in the world – she was only 6 lbs when I got her though she doubled in size during the 3 weeks she was with me. It speaks volumes to her tenacity and spirit that she not only survived on her own but managed to find her way to safety through WTAR. I’d say she’s a pretty smart cookie!Cavi is still waiting to find her forever family. She has a big puppy personality and is cute as a button (as you can see). Her description on WTAR’s website says she’s a lab/ pit mix, because all the other puppies in the “C” litter looked like lab/pit mixes. But in fact she has a totally different appearance, and the woman who rescued her guesses she might be a feist (a type of terrier/ hunting dog) mix.Please spread the word about Cavi’s incredible journey and help her find her way home!
