Meet Sydney! This gorgeous petite Bully was found as a stray and taken into a rural county shelter at full capacity. She was there a few months and became a staff favorite, known for being a very happy, wiggly girl who is gentle and loving. Sydney adored getting pets and attention and did well socializing with other dogs at the shelter. One of the shelter staff advocated to get her into rescue, and we couldn’t say No to this charming pup. Sydney has been in her foster home for over a month now living with a foster mom and dad and two larger German Shepherds, Knox and Dozer. Coming from a stressful environment, she needed a few days to decompress and relax in her new home. Her foster mom, Lou, gradually introduced her to Dozer and Knox over a few days, and she’s done well as part of the pack. She’s found a best buddy and playmate in Knox and is very respectful to Dozer, the older dog and pack leader. After a week or so to settle in, we learned that Sydney is a major cuddle bug who loves to snuggle up with you on the couch at night. She’s a very social girl who loves men, women, and kids alike. Her foster family had several family members over for the 4th celebration, and Sydney was a perfect host. She engaged with all the adults and enjoyed all the kids (from a year to 14 years old). At least two family members commented that Sydney did better than any other foster dog they had met at a family gathering, and there have been many over the years. Sydney loves to be in the mix of things and is very connected to her humans. Sydney is crate trained, house trained, and rides great in the car, always ready to go and do. She has a moderate energy level and likes to play with other dogs. She is not hugely into toys but loves her Benebones. She also loves belly rubs and back scratches and will grunt like a little piggie…it’s so cute. She does OK on leash but will pull when she wants to smell something and could use more practice. She currently gets most of her exercise playing in the yard with Knox. While Sydney is not a consistent barker in the home, she does have a loud excited wail initially when she first goes into the crate and when you come home. Once she settles in, she no longer gets excited when you leave her. Her foster mom grabs a treat bag, and she goes right in, waiting for her reward, and settles down quickly. Her foster mom has a camera set up on her crate to monitor….When they leave, Sydney just lays down and goes to sleep, but when she hears her people return, she wags her tail 100 mph and is so happy to see you that she will let out a squeal of delight.
