About Me Age: 2 years....Hi, my name is Helen and I’m high-energy sweet and affectionate. Don’t I have the cutest ears EVER?! When I arrived at SCGRRescue foster care, I was a nervous nelly – so many things scared me like cartoons on TV, loud noises, new people or dogs barking next door. My previous owners were moving and couldn’t take me with them. Now I have come so far with the expert skills of my foster and some additional support from a trainer. I now love 9 out of 10 people that I meet, have learned new ways to keep my cool when I get nervous and have discovered that full-contact sports like pounce and play with other physical canine buddies is SOOOOOO fun! Oh, and I’m obsessed with fetch. I love car rides and will jump in and sit or lay quietly to see what new adventure is in store for me. I love being outside sniffing and sunbathing. I still can get anxious when I’m restricted by a leash but in my own environment with freedom, I’m such a happy girl! I’m so ready to find my perfect, furever family. Once I am comfortable with you, I will never stop soliciting pets and affection. If you don’t pet me enough, I will let you know by putting her paw on your arm to keep it there or by nudging my head back under your hand. My energy and physicality might be a bit much for younger / smaller humans. I’ve lived with a dog-savvy cat and have met some chickens just fine. But I do have a prey drive so on walks, I will still try to chase any small running animals I see. I’ve done well with other dogs but I play HARD and very physically so other canine siblings should enjoy that also. I can come in “hot” and get into staring contests easily but if another balanced dog snaps my way, I walk away. I’m still working on getting more comfortable on leashed walks – if something scares me (certain dogs, a sound, certain people), I try my best to scare it away so I need a physically strong handler and someone that will keep working with me on this. If you enjoy “working walks” where you keep my mind occupied, that seems to work best for me. Check out my leash walk video. Then there is the 1 out of 10 people that just gives me a bad vibe (you know you feel that way sometimes too!) and I need to try to scare them off too. If I like you, I will bond quickly to you and want to be with you all the time. My Ideal Home I would love a yard and a quieter neighborhood with adults and possibly some older, pet savvy kids who love to play fetch. I’m high energy, remember, so my family should be ready to put together a schedule for me that includes playtime, working walks, brain enrichment, 2 x 10-15 min training sessions a day and of course, cuddles! I would even love some balanced canine siblings that love full contact play as well. Want to Adopt me?
