Baba recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say! "Meet BaBa! I spent the morning on a Dog's Day out with this lovable house hippo available from Guilford County Animal Services. We visited Hester Park briefly and then headed to Sweetwater Court Private Dog Playground and Gardens. Baba enjoyed a tasty pup cup and then was content to stroll around the yard. His favorite toy was a stuffed squeaky duck! Next we drove through Freddy's for my lunch and BaBa had pup cup #2 (just a little one). We also had a short visit at my house where BaBa was well-behaved! All about BaBa!- Listed as 1 year, 7 months old but seems to be past puppy energy for the most part - 73 lbs-a big boy but pretty easy to manage - Medium energy-he was lively and jumping a little right when I first got him out of his kennel but he calmed down quickly - Knows sit and down- Affectionate-loves to sit by you for pets. Big soft head for petting! And the biggest, happiest smile - Loves treats! Give with a flat hand because he gets a little excited sometimes - Good walker-likes to stop and sniff. Non reactive to people we saw at Hester Park. Did want to chase squirrels but able to be redirected.- He saw my dog Bucky in his crate and they sniffed each other with tails wagging. If you have a dog at home, please bring your dog to the shelter for a meet and greet. Visiting dogs must be up to date on vaccinations including bordetella.- Great car rider-takes him a second to get in but he sits calmly or lies down once inside - It's hard for me to speak to house training since he wasn't at my house long, but my guess is he would easily be trained. After we'd ridden in my car for a while, he promptly went potty when I walked him in the yard before going inside.- Polite around food-sat quietly in the backseat while I ate my lunch- He can be a slobbery boy at times" As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
