I had pet parakeets and finches growing up, so I am used to birds, but I am trying to decide if I have enough free time to adequately care for a lovebird. I have heard that lovebirds require a good 3-4 hours of physical contact per day. I am a teacher, so I always have evenings and weekends free. I spend most of my evenings in my home office, which has lots of bookshelves but plenty of free space, too (it's approx. 11 ft. x 14 ft.)- I could easily put a bird cage there, and would be happy to let the bird come out of his cage whenever I were in the room, too. Does this sound like a reasonable environment? If so, would you recommend a particular bird cage?

They are very curious little birds with a short attention span for any one thing, but they can make a wonderful pet. Are there others in your household that could spend a little time with it during the day when you can't? One other thing you might consider is to buy two Lovebirds in order to fill the time gap of a companion during the day for the baby. I hand feed every single baby that I sell, so they are always very sweet natured, tame and well socialized. In order to keep them that way, they need social interaction whether it be from you, another household member or a companion bird. My contact info is 423-200-8606, _gbmariner@aol.com_ (mailto:[email blocked]) . It will be a little while until I could get you a baby/babies anyway. I just had one hatch yesterday and there will be more coming soon. Thanks, Gregg
