Sweet, sweet, Sweeet Gracie!!! We don't even know why she ended up being dropped off on a busy street... We do know that Gracie was a very, very lucky pup because when she was dropped off - ABANDONED! Someone who was walking their dog, saw it happen right before his very eyes. By the time he realized what was happening, there was nothing else to do for her except help her. A.M.O.R. was contacted to be her rescue but our intake was closed. We needed time so that a spot could become available for her. And again, Little Gracie's savior was able to find a wonderful foster for her. The feedback from the foster and original founder were that she was an amazingly sweet girl. Both would have loved to have kept her but they were seniors and could not manage another dog to their own. From the moment that Gracie arrived to A.M.O.R., she is indeed a complete sweetheart! She is sweet, loving, shy at times, and definitely still growing because she can also be a clumsy girl! Gracie is still learning that her nibble is not acceptable. But, she is learning FAST! This is the only negative we can find in sweet and loving Gracie! She is NOT food protective. She is NOT kennel protective. She is NOT a barker. She is NOT a lot of things which makes her pretty PERFECT! Gracie is doing wonderfully regarding potty and kennel training. She has not had an accident in her kennel. She is quiet as a mouse in her kennel. BUT, she will whimper a bit when she needs to potty if she is not out by 8am. She was also doing very well with her leash training. Never barked at other dogs, cats, squirrels, etc during her walks. And no tugging nor pulling. But, her family will need to understand that she is still a growing puppy and there are times that her puppy energy needs to be used up! She loves playing with other dogs of many sizes and ages. And then after, she loves to lay next to you on the couch and get cuddles and catch a snooze! All of Gracie's vetting has been done by my personal dogs' vet. The following is a list of what has been done for Gracie.SpayedAll 4 - DA2PP shots (Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2 (Hepatitis), Parvo, and Parainfluenza)Bordatella shotRabies shotDewormedTested, Treated (if needed), and retested for giardia and coccidiaIverhart heartworm preventativeSimparica fleas and ticks preventativeChipped There are two categories of vaccines: “core” vaccines that are recommended for all pets, and “non-core vaccines” which may be recommended by your vet based on lifestyle and exposure risk. The core vaccine for dogs is the Rabies vaccine, which is required by law. The second core vaccine for dogs is often referred to as the DA2PP or DHPP vaccine. This stands for “Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2 (Hepatitis), Parvo, and Parainfluenza”, meaning that this vaccine protects against FOUR different diseases. It is especially important for puppies to begin a series of DA2PP vaccines at six to eight weeks of age, as natural immunity obtained from the mother decreases and puppies become very susceptible to potentially life-threatening diseases such as Canine Parvovirus (Parvo). Parvo is transmitted through feces and can remain in the environment for at least one month, and up to a year if the conditions are right. This means that puppies do not need to be directly exposed to another dog that has Parvo in order to contract the disease, and caution is advised when choosing where and how to socialize and exercise your pup. We recommend avoiding exposure to unknown dogs or public places until your puppy has finished their vaccine series. BUT, all A.M.O.R. puppies (1 year old and less) have all FOUR shots. They are safe to join you and your family on your outdoor adventures and you can rest at ease.Non-core vaccines for dogs include Bordetella, Influenza, Leptospirosis and Lyme. The Bordetella (aka: Kennel Cough) help to prevent highly-contagious respiratory diseases, and are essential for dogs that may be exposed to other dogs, especially in group settings such as dog parks, daycare, or boarding facilities. All A.M.O.R. dogs and puppies are given a Bordatella vaccine. Bordatella boosters are given every 6 months.https://www.thedrakecenter.com/services/dogs/parasites/deworming-dogsThe above link is to provide you information regarding why deworming is so important for all dogs of all ages (and for their families).All A.M.O.R.s are dewormed upon entering the rescue and then again 5 days before their health certificate visit (when they have been adopted and ready to travel). This dewormer is issued per our vet. And all pets are tested, treated (if needed), and retested for coccidia and giardia. A.M.O.R. provides you with this information so that you can be aware of the work and love that is given to each pet. Each puppy has visited the vet AT LEAST 5 times during their stay with us. They have seen the vet 4 times for their shots and will see the vet 1-2 more times prior to transport in order to obtain a health certificate for travel. Adult dogs have seen the vet AT LEAST 3 times. Two visits for their shots and 1-2 visits prior to transport in order to obtain a health certificate. Are you ready to cuddle and love sweet Gracie????
