Meet Isam! Pronounced "Is-um." Isam touched our hearts after hearing his story. Isam was left neglected and abandoned in a home with another dog. The home had no running water, electricity, or food for them. Fortunately, Isam and his fur friend were trapped and taken into custody. Their previous owner has since been charged with animal cruelty and neglect. Isam is an old man and needs help putting weight on. Unfortunately, he hasn't received medical care in years, if ever. Isam just finished up his heartworm treatment and is officially heartworm negative! Now that his heart is a little lighter, he is bursting with energy!The vet believes Isam has Degenerative Myelopathy, which is a spine disease that effects the nerves. His hips will give out occasionally when running. His balance isn't the best due to this. Isam will need a predominantly "Netflix and chill" kind of home. He does enjoy walks and short stints of fetch. Isam can easily be misunderstood. He can be a grumpy old man upon meeting him, but he warms up quickly! He just needs to be shown compassion and love. Isam can be barrier aggressive with strangers, but once he's out of a crate, he is completely fine.Tennis balls or any ball are his favorite. Isam has some training and knows all basic commands. He's even housebroken! Isam loves belly rubs and would benefit from a home that's willing to let him live out his final years in comfort. Just as any senior, they deserve to be surrounded by love before their time is up. Isam currently resides with cats, however, he is a little selective on which ones he likes lol. He likes two out of the three cats he lives with. Can you help Isam live out his life with love and comfort!?
