Eli is a handsome adult male kitty arrived at the HSOV on October 19, 2019 after he was found on Wynncrest Drive in Marietta Ohio. Eli has a dark brown short smooth coat in a tabby pattern, white markings on his chest/paws, a long ringed tail, and a beautifully-marked face with a white stripe on his nose/forehead, a brown 'beauty mark' beside his muzzle, and dark golden eyes. This big guy was quite friendly when he was carried into the shelter, and he was also very willing to be carried in our photographer's arm for his photo session on October 22nd. Eli appears to be ok with other cats and was perfectly at ease with one of our free-roaming HSOV kitties (Dusty) while he had his pictures taken in our 'studio' and Dusty admired him from afar :)Eli was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on October 21, 2019. Eli was combo tested on October 21, 2019. He is negative for feline leukemia but unfortunately tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) and is being listed as a 'Special Needs Cat'. A vigilant pet owner who treats secondary infections can assist an FIV-infected cat to live a reasonably long life. The chances that an FIV-infected cat will pass the virus to other cats within a household are slim to none if no serious fighting or biting occurs.Eli weighs 9 lbs and has already been neutered. He could leave our shelter immediately with an approved adoption application since nobody came looking for him or called about him.
