This is Cocoa Puffs and this is what her foster has to say about her. "3 Day Foster for Adoption UpdateShe now goes by simply Coco.Coco is an incredibly smart, moderately active hound mix.Coco is non-reactive to sudden movements, startling noises, door slamming, laughter, loud sounds, sirens, gunshots, doorbells, delivery people, and other dogs barking.Coco is a very quiet, clean dog, with only minor shedding.Coco tolerated a dry shampoo scrub, brush and dry. We have not attempted a full water bath yet, but we do plan to bathe her with water before we administer her flea med on December 9th and will report back.Coco is extremely gentle. She adores both male and female children and small adults. She is hesitant to approach, though is not frightened by tall men.Coco prefers to come to you for petting and attention. She prefers to be pet down her back or on her chest. She does not appreciate an over the head approach or having her ears or face touched. She is hesitant to have her paws handled but does not actively resist.Coco is an outside dog. We suggest a fenced in yard or other area where she can be outside for a significant portion of her day.Coco is overnight and short-term (2-3 hours) daytime kennel trained. She shows no signs of distress or discomfort being in her kennel (inside) during those times.Coco will whimper or whine at the door to be let out to potty. She has had no accidents during her time with us (since Saturday, December 2) and we do not anticipate any in the future.Coco loves to play chase other dogs and children and is learning to play tug of war.Coco is dog friendly and cat friendly - or more specifically cat "nonchalant."Coco is a submissive play partner and takes engagement cues from other dogs very well.Coco enjoys a good bit of alone time outside during the day, lying in the sun or watching the birds and neighbors.Coco is tall and her adoptive family should have a 6-foot fence (rather than a 4-foot fence) and plenty of room for her to run.Coco may be able to climb, so be weary of chain link fences for containment.Coco currently eats 2X a day for a total of 2 7/8 cups of food. She eats once in the morning after going out to potty (about 7am) and then in the late afternoon (around 4pm).Coco is eating a mix of: Purina Pro Plan Hydrolyzed Vegetarian Formula dry food (2 cups daily total) Pedigree wet food pouch/peanut butter/cubed yellow cheese (7/8 cup daily total)Coco likes to eat her meals outside and alone.Coco does not dig under fences, in the dirt, or in the grass, and she does not chew on things.Coco is not currently interested in treats which has made working on basic training of sit, down, off, etc. a bit of a challenge. We are going to give her a few more days to acclimatize, eat, trust, and just play before we try again.Coco respects boundaries for placement (fencing, gates, doors, blankets), and understands corrective tone (firm, but not loud and no yelling) even if she is not specifically trained with commands yet."If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cocoa Puffs (@ Foster Home), please reach out to the adoption group directly.
