Crush is a very handsome and active, 10 year old, diabetic cat who transferred to HART from a rescue in Massachusetts after we received their request for assistance, and fortunately we were able to take on his care. When he arrived, he had some medical hurdles to overcome, but throughout all of his treatments, he has remained a very positive and loving guy. Friendly and social, this orange tabby boy loves getting attention from everyone who comes into his room. We consider him to be a cat with no sense of personal space--he often just pushes himself into the the middle of whatever is happening in his vicinity! He can also be a bully at times, so any cat he lives with will have to be able to stand up to his moods.Crush had his eye removed due to a tumor (melanoma) in April of 2022. Missing his eye does not appear to slow him down at all. As a diabetic, Crush receives insulin twice per day and has regular monitoring of his blood glucose levels. He also has been diagnosed with IBD (inflammatory bowel disorder). His adopter will need to have an established relationship with a veterinarian. Our Medical Team will also go over all of his diabetic needs prior to his adoption. We require and provide training on the care of a diabetic cat before sending them to their new home. Since there is some training for his care needed, Crush is not able to leave the same day that you meet him. All of our adopted diabetic cats receive $100 of food as an adoption gift from one of our volunteers, and they are also sent home with a blood sugar testing meter and related supplies.
