A horse of his disposition, talents, color, pedigree, and the great demand for his offspring is impossible to find. The demand for Hotshot’s offspring is evident in his sales on thehorsebay.com and other comparable sales.Miss Missouri Hotshot sold for $52,500Kaitlyn sold for $28,300Madison Taylor sold for $34,500Zeke sold for $24,800Hotshot’s offspring have already been exported. I have made a living with horses most of my life, and Hotshot is the best all-around horse I’ve ever known. Now is the best time I’ve ever known to start raising babies. The records show that 20 years ago, the association registered over 4000 babies. Last year, the association registered less than 400. A registered Missouri Foxtrotting horse will be difficult to find in the future. The only reason for offering Hotshot to the public is that after breeding with him for 11 years, our whole herd is related to him, and we like his offspring so well that we are saving his mares for breeding purposes. It is time we stop being selfish and offer Hotshot to the world. Hotshot’s sire, Southern Sunrise, was entered into the BREYER Horse Hall of Fame in Pequannock, New Jersey (see photos).Hotshot’s sire, Southern Sunrise was also inducted into the MFTHBA Hall of Fame in 2014.The article is attached below:**************************The Missouri Foxtrotting Horse Breed Association is proud to enter SOUTHERN SUNRISE into the MFTHBA HALL of FAME.Southern Sunrise has sired around 788 registered horses and produced more champions than any other sire in the history of the MFTHBA. “’ Sunrise’ passes on the whole package: great disposition, good confirmation, and a willingness to please,” said Karen Leighton. That people want these traits in their Fox Trotters is evident: the 2013 Stallion of the Year, Southern Playboy, the 2013 Breeding Stallion of the Year, and the late Sensation’s Southern Gentleman are direct sons of Southern Sunrise. Sunrise is by Southern Jazz and out of Lad’s Misty. The breeder was Larry Stevens. “Sunrise’s best asset is siring offspring with excellent dispositions,” said Stevens.Sunrise’s sons and daughters and their sons and daughters shine in the Model, Performance, and Versatility arenas in regular and Youth classes and other venues. Sunrise’s son, Absolut Sunrise, was one of two Fox Trotter finalists in the televised 2011 American Competitive Trail Horse Association competition. Southern Playboy is the oldest horse to win the Open Senior.World Grand Champion title. The list of champions directly sired by Sunrise or produced by one of his offspring continues.Wayne, Gordon, Bub, and Tyler Lewis at Lewis’ Foxtrotters, the home of Sensation’s Southern Gentlemen, admire Southern Sunrise horses. “Look at all the offspring that have been winners in the show ring, not only with professionals but also amateurs. They are horses that anybody could train,” they said. “I honestly believe that Sunrise played a big part in the success of our breeding program,” said Lola Moberly of M&M Foxtrotters. “Sunrise babies were easy to work with and market.” Sunrise was owned by Harry Patterson’s 4Ps Ranch, where he stands at stud. “What he has accomplished is mind-boggling,” said Patterson.Hotshot’s mother’s sire, Missouri Traveler E., was inducted into the MFTHBA Hall of Fame in 2013.The article is attached below:************************The Missouri Foxtrotting Horse Breed Association is proud to enter MISSOURI TRAVELER E. into the MFTHBA HALL of FAME 1971-1997Missouri Traveler E, by Zane Grey out of Lady Anne, was a chestnut sorrel colt born on Dean Esther’s farm in 1971. When fox trotters, words fail to describe the rhythm that flows through the stallion’s body from his head to his tail. Traveler never won a World Grand Championship, but he was part of perhaps one of the greatest Celebration championship shows in history in 1975.In 1979, Traveler was sold to Lee Hodge and Donald Cunningham. Donald said, “You can pick out a Missouri Traveler-bred horse in the show ring. They have a certain head shake, rhythm, and timing. It’s unique.”In 1981, Traveler was sold to Curtice Williams and Jerry Middleton, who bought him with plans to syndicate him. This was done with Doug Montgomery’s help for a total of 44 shares, which sold for $2,000 each, making the stallion worth $88,000. This syndication closed the breeding to all but the shareholders. It has been said that Missouri Traveler set the standard for the breed. His natural fox trot, rhythm, color, hip, and rooster tail carriage were repeatedly passed on to his foals, who won many championships.Traveler died just short of his 26th birthday in 1997. He is buried just north of the main arena on the MFTHBA showgrounds. His grave marker reads, “The Sire”. Because of his contributions to the Missouri Fox trotting Horse Breed and upon the recommendation of the MFTHBA Board of Directors, we would like to welcome Missouri Traveler E into the MFTHBA Hall of Fame.Hotshot has been presented the award for one of the top breeding sires by the MFTHBA for the last several years. The article is attached below:SOUTHERN SUNRISES HOTSHOTSouthern Sunrises Hotshot Named Top 5 Breeding Sire The MFTHBA congratulates Southern Sunrises Hotshot on being named a Top 5 MFTHBA Breeding Sire. Owned by Larry Stevens of Marshfield, Missouri, Southern Sunrises Hotshot is named a Top 5 Breeding Sire for the fourth time. Bred by Larry Stevens of Marshfield, Missouri, Southern Sunrises Hotshot is making his mark by being the sire of horses registered in the MFTHBA’s Pony Registry. Southern Sunrise Hotshot was sired by Southern Sunrise and out of Missouri’s Jealousee (by Missouri Traveler E). The MFTHBA thanks Larry Stevens for his contributions to the future generations of Missouri Fox Trotters through his stallion Southern Sunrises Hotshot. Southern Sunrises Hotshot and Mr. Stevens will be formally recognized for this accomplishment at the 2023 MFTHBA World Show & Celebration. The Breeding Sire of the Year award was established by the MFTHBA Membership Committee to recognize stallions providing a significant impact on the continuation of the breed. In addition, the award was designed to encourage foal registration promptly, which helps the MFTHBA in its task of preserving the breed registry.IT TAKES YEARS AND YEARS OF BREEDING AND TRAINING TO DEVELOP A HORSE OF HOTSHOT’S CALIBER.We will be more than willing to assist the new owners in any way we can.
