Meet Howie and Jace!We know it’s long but Please read FULL bio before applying!! Howie and Jace are 3 years old and came to us 2 1/2 months ago filthy, covered in fleas and matted when they were surrendered from a puppy mill. When they came to us it was obvious they had never been handled (at least not nicely) by humans. They were both completely feral and would spend all of their time hiding. Howie (13 lbs) has made wonderful progress with his foster mom. He gets excited to see her, will come up to her and allow her to pick him up and ask to be petted. He is still very fearful of her walking towards him and not allowing him to come to her and of fast movements but we are very happy with his progress. Keep in mind when he goes to a new home he will need lots of time before he trusts someone like he trusts his foster mom but we know he has it in him. Jace (10 lbs) is still basically feral. He has made very small steps in progress but it has been minimal. He is going to take a much longer time to open up and in all honesty may never be a completely normal dog. Neither boy is potty trained. Jace cannot be free in a yard as you will never be able to get him back inside and neither boy likes a leash so potty training at the moment is a little impossible. They will need to go to a home that has a social dog to help them learn. Normally we would seperate dogs like these but we really think that Jace’s best chance is staying with Howie and watching him open up and hopefully following his ways so we are requiring they be adopted together. We understand that it is going to take an extra special and patient home for them. Someone that has the time and patience to work with them and allow them to open up on their time.
