Name: Jewel Sex: Female Estimated Age: About 3 years old Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd/Terrier Mix Weight: About 50 lbs Good With: Dogs and people! We haven’t seen her interact with kids or cats, but if you have them we can test her out! Story: Jewel came to us from a shelter in North Carolina. We are just not sure how they ended up in there! Jewel is a super sweet pup that loves all people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. She knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with her humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Jewel is just looking for someone to be her new best furend and we know that she will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. As a young dog, Jewel will need an adopter who is committed to setting her up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising her both mentally and physically. She will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! JEWEL’S PERFECT MATCH: PERFECT FAMILY: A home with 1-2 adults with or without a dog friend (or two) PERFECT HOME: One with a fenced in yard (ideally, but not required!) and lots of LOVE EXERCISE NEEDS: Jewel loves going on walks and playing in the yard. Currently she goes on one long walk and spends lots of time in the yard doing zoomies. She is learning how to walk on a leash. She is doing well with an easy walk harness. She does get very excited if she sees other dogs or any other animals (birds, squirrels etc.) BEHAVIOR IN HOME: Jewel is a super sweetie and very affectionate. She loves to play with other dogs and then take naps on the couch or on her human. She is quiet in her crate at night and/or when she can see her humans. She whines or barks a little when first left but eventually settles down. She loves her dog bed, dog toys, and uses the bathroom outside in the yard. Jewel is still acclimating to life in a house. While she is fully comfortable in the yard, house sounds can sometimes startle her. It took her a little bit to adjust to the television and hair dryer but once she knows it isn't a big deal she no longer reacts (or barks) at them. Even though Jewel is past her "puppy" age she will need a puppy proofed house. until she has some training under her belt. She is such a sweetie and will make the best furend! Color Match: ORANGE - Goofball (Socially Motivated) Dog Personality — Will work for what they want, but are not as committed to pursuing their own agenda; these are considered moderate-persistence dogs.
