Hi there! My name is Sandy! I was found as a stray and unfortunately was never claimed. I weigh 44 lbs. My friend, Samson, and I came to MCAC as a transfer from another rescue! Samson has since been adopted. I’m ready for to be part of a forever family. While being at MCAC, the great volunteers have taught me basic commands. Turns out I’m a quick learner! I’m eager to learn, especially if you have good treats! Running around exercising is one of my favorite things to do! It’s also because of this that I would need a fenced in yard to make me happy. I absolutely LOVE making new dog-friends! There has not been a dog-friend I haven’t gotten along with. I have also been around kids as young as 10 years old and do well with them. MCAC has a feral cat colony that loves getting in our yard, I help protect our yard by keeping them out. It’s because of this I would do best without a home with cats. You know the saying “Cats drool and Dogs rule!” LOL. During my veterinary exam at MCAC, it was discovered that I was heartworm positive. This is an easily preventable disease but can be deadly if left untreated. Fortunately, the nice people here have had me treated for this and I am now as good as new!I`m up to date on my vaccines, however I will need to see my new veterinarian within 2 weeks of my adoption to ensure that I stay healthy and keep on a regular vaccination schedule.If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.
