Meet cute Copper! This handsome boy is a 1 year-old terrier mix. He currently weighs about 40 pounds and is expected to be a medium sized dog when fully grown. Copper is looking for a forever family where he can blossom into the perfect lifelong companion. Copper has the typical energy of a young dog and he is the perfect size. He will need daily physical and mental stimulation to become the best pup he can be. He has energy to spare so walking twice a day is important and will be very beneficial for having a content and happy pup. If you have the time and commitment to devote to this sweet boy, he is sure to repay you with unconditional love and loyalty. Copper is good with other dogs and children. He loves to play with other pups and would enjoy a home with a canine friend. Copper has not met cats yet. Copper is house and crate trained but still working on leash training. He is a smart boy who is very treat motivated, so he is sure to pick up these important skills quickly with the patience and consistency of his new family. Although he is house trained, it is important to remember that accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. Copper is quite intelligent learning tricks with relative ease. He has mastered shake, spin, sit, lay down, touch, look and come. He loves to play fetch and is a big fan of chew toys. Copper is happiest when he can play with his toys next to you and he loves to cuddle nap during t.v. time. As with all puppies, Copper is full of curiosity and wonderment, and is ready to grow from adorable puppy to an amazing dog with the right guidance and patience. This valuable document helps us insure that we are finding the perfect match for both the dog and the family members. If your application looks like a good fit, you will be contacted by phone for an interview. This is an opportunity to learn more about the home life you offer and the known temperament and energy level of the dog that is available for adoption. In some cases we may find that a different adoptable dog may be more suitable for your lifestyle and would be brought to your attention. Next, you will speak with the previous foster families to learn more about the day to day needs and behavior of the dog as an extra measure to find the perfect match. In addition, your veterinarian will be contacted to confirm your dedication to the health and well being of your previous or current pets.Finally DSR reserves the right to do a home inspection prior to the adoption approval. While this may seem like a lengthy process it actually may only take a week or two. As a result you should only begin the adoption process when you are ready to welcome a dog into your home.DSR makes every effort to insure our dogs are healthy, happy, and well cared for by our loving volunteers as they wait for their forever homes. All dogs are up to date on all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and receive a health certificate before being transported. We host adoption events every other week in the greater Hartford area. These are wonderful opportunities to meet all of our amazing adoptable dogs.
