Sadly, not uncommon to his breed, the lack of mental and physical stimulation we are able to provide in the shelter setting, along with the overall stress of shelter life, his behavior is starting to deteriorate and he's becoming insecure in environments where he used to thrive. New and unfamiliar people and spaces are of concern for him and he is becoming reactive in situations where he was not reactive before. He is signed up for a board and train program that is schedule to start in mid-February and we'd love to have a home for him that can work with the trainer in the Bloomington area as he goes through training and go straight into your home from training. If you might be interested in Athos and are committed to the training at TAPS expense, please consider applying. Athos is an almost 2 year old Pit Bull/German Shepherd mix that was returned when his family decided to move and not take him along....so truly through no fault of his own. They only have great things to say about him...good with dogs, cats, kids, is potty trained (though anyone should be prepared for transitional accidents) and housebroken. Athos can play fetch for hours, and he loves to be outside. He will need some work on his leash manners, but he already knows sit, shake and lie down!
