Description:

Poochon Dog for Adoption in COLUMBIA, Maryland, 21045 USNickname: HOLLY (COURTESY POST) Posted Breed: Bichon Frise / Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting. ***** Holly is 7mo old, weighs 7.5lbs, is up to date on her vaccines, is intact, and is not microchipped. Holly's guardian adds: "Holly is a very sweet, social, and loving girl. She has so, so much love to give. She is playful but equal parts relaxed. She is so well behaved and obedient. She loves to play with other small puppies her size. She loves to run around and explore outdoors. She enjoys a good stick or chew. It takes a bit of time and patience to earn her trust but it is well worth it. She will snuggle up and cuddle with you so much. We use clicker training. Basic commands and vocabulary: sit, stay, 'go in your den', down, off, potty, dinner, water, fetch, treat. Holly will benefit from individual attention. She is an obedient puppy and rarely gets into trouble. I highly recommend continuing clicker training. She requires positive reinforcement, she gets scared if you scream at her or raise your voice. She is very gentle. Fear of toddlers and children. She is nervous and shy when meeting new people. SHE WILL RUN AWAY if you force her in an uncomfortable situation!!!!" Holly's guardian explains why she has made the decision to rehome her: "Holly is part of an oops litter. Her parents are our family pets." Holly's guardian offers a brief medical history: "Pups have had recurring bouts of Giardia. We live in the city and it's been going around our neighborhood. They have consistently been treated. Their last stool test was as recent as a week ago. We stay in consistent contact with their vet. Holly was itchy for and had a bout of small patches of missing hair. She was licking her paws. We think that she had just become sensitive to the Royal Canin puppy food. She has done just fine since we switched to the Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Salmon and Rice flavored food." Holly's guardian states the following regarding children: Holly hasn't lived with children, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children, stating "Holly is very fearful of children. Sadly, she has had bad experiences with kids when potential adopters first started visiting us". Holly's guardian states the following regarding dogs: Holly lives with dogs, so her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating: "She will do great in a home with other small dogs. She is very social. She is working on her confidence in meeting (large) dogs outdoors. She tends to take the lead of other dogs with her (i.e. her siblings or doggy friend) when approaching new dogs or situations." Holly's guardian states the following regarding cats: Holly hasn't lived with cats, so her guardian is unsure how she would react to cats in a household, stating "She's been indifferent to outside stray cats. She hasn't been formally introduced to a cat but I don't have any reason to say that she won't do okay". Holly's guardian describes her as: Playful Shy Likes to be touched Affectionate Fearful Independent Nervous Crate-Trained Holly's guardian describes her ideal future home: "Holly needs experienced owners that are sensitive to her needs and will be patient and understanding with her. She will be great in a house with a small dog of similar(ish) age so she can borrow from their confidence. Would also be great with siblings Knox and Belle. A couple or family that can help her grow into a confident puppy would adore her."
