Looking for a loving and loyal furry friend who comes with the perks of adopting an adult dog? Things like going potty outside and experience with manners? Help us help you! Evie is ready to get adopted and bust outta CVHS (although she thinks it's not such a bad gig, being as office staff have let her hang out with them the last few weeks....) Evie came to CVHS with some history, but not much. A medium sized dog, we noted some funk on her skin and one of her eyes. After treating a secondary infection of unknown origin on her coat, she was still in need of extra intervention. After a consultation with a veterinarian and some fancy lab work, she was noted to have Pigmented Viral Plaque. This translates to a scalloped appearance of her skin, with hyperkeratosis (thickening of the sking) with pigment (color). In regards to her eye, it's hard to say what caused an old injury and/or trauma. Attempts at treatment did not provide much in the way of the healing process, so the best ourcome was removal. You would never know, as she doesn't complain! Adoption processThe process starts by browsing the pets on our website or by visiting the shelter. If you’re looking for a particular type of animal and can’t find it online or after visiting our shelter, please try a rescue group. The shelter has a list of rescue groups for most dog breeds, and you can also find these by doing a quick search online. Upon entering our shelter, please take time to notice all our animals. All of the animals deserve loving homes, and our goal is to match up the right pet with the right family. Please visit with staff about the behavior and personality of the animal. They have been taking care of the animal since arrival and generally know a lot about them. After a decision has been made, please return to the front desk and give the adoption counselor a tag number, name, and/or description of the animal you are interested in adopting. Adoption RequirementsTo adopt an animal from the Cedar Valley Humane Society, you must be at least 18 years old, provide a current photo ID, and have a verifiable address.
