Location:
Saint Paul, MN
Description:

Snapshot of Bellamy: Size? 35 pounds Activity Level? I love to walk, play, and run, but I also love to relax and snuggle Noise Level? I don't bark often when people are around, but I bark when I'm bored or lonely in my kennel, so no shared walls, please! Good with Dogs? Dogs are overwhelming sometimes, especially if they are nervous like me. Good with Cats? I'm not so sure about them, but with the right intro, it could work! Good with Kids? I LOVE all kids and I'm gentle with little ones, but my energy still makes me more suitable to live with older kids. Good with Strangers? I LOVE all people! Potty Trained? I'm a pro! Crate Trained? Yes, but I get bored easily, please no long-term kenneling. Shedding? I have short hair, and I do shed. About Bellamy: Hi! I'm Bellamy! I am a 1.5-year-old Beagle/Terrier mix. I still have puppy energy, but once I've gotten my wiggles out, I love snuggling and lounging, especially on the couch or under the covers. In the mornings, I love to cuddle up next to my foster mom with my head on her shoulder. My foster mom studies a lot, and I'm almost always happy to sleep in my bed while she clicks away on her computer. I LOVE meeting new people, and I'm still working on keeping all four paws on the ground when they come around. I'm just so excited to see them! I'm also learning that not everyone likes their face licked, but sometimes it's hard for me to remember. I have met multiple dogs off-leash with my foster parents, and I did well with confident dogs who showed me the ropes. I do best with slow intros! I love going on walks, but all the sounds and smells can make me feel overwhelmed. My foster parents are working with me on leash reactivity toward other dogs, squirrels, and cars. I'm feeling a lot less scared of cars and less reactive to squirrels, but dogs are still hard for me. I'll need a home with someone who will keep working with me to be less scared of other dogs. My foster parents are also working with me on no-pull walking and I'm picking it up really quickly! I am trained in on the gentle leader, but I really don't like using it in the summer because I get overheated very quickly. I love learning new things and my foster parents are continually amazed by how smart I am. I know all kinds of tricks including sit, drop, roll over, shake, sit pretty, wait, and touch. I also know the commands "go potty," "kennel-up, and "leave it." I sleep all night in my crate, but it can take me a while to settle down some nights, especially if my routine has changed in some way. I'm also scared of storms, so if there is thunder, I'd really prefer to sleep with you. I do well in my kennel during the day for short periods of time, but I get bored if you leave me in there too long and I will take out my boredom on anything soft in the kennel. Please make sure to leave me a Nylabone to play with! My foster parents think I would do well with free-reign of the house while they are gone, but we haven't tried it yet. I really prefer it when the whole family is together in one room (with me right next to them), but I'm learning that it is okay when my foster mom and dad leave for a little while because they always come back. I am a pro at going potty outside, especially if you watch for my cues. My foster mom often asks me to "go potty" when I go outside, and I almost always listen and go right away. I love looking out the window into the backyard. I can sit there for hours. I also love laying in the sun and playing with my toys! Squeaky toys are my favorite. I would love a home with a fenced-in backyard where I can run and exercise. When I'm in the mood, I'm excellent at playing fetch and I also love to jump up to try to catch tennis balls in the air! My foster parents think I'd be awesome at catching a frisbee. I am an amazing athlete, and my foster parents think I could be an agility star with the right training. I can jump really high, so keep an eye on me! I need a family who will give me lots of mental and physical stimulation. I would love it if you will snuggle with me and teach me new things. I can't wait to meet you! Bellamy does have seasonal allergies which may require treatment.
