Beet, aka Beetie, is a 1 year old 40# terrier mix. Beetie is one smart boy. He is potty trained, crate trained, learned a number of tricks in just a few days, and continues to learn! He gets along with dogs and doesn’t show much interest in cats. He is content lounging around and chewing on antlers, but he loves zoomies in the yard to get his energy out. He plays well with other dogs but if they aren’t in the mood to play he will entertain himself with a ball or toy. We aren’t sure what his history entails but certain things are new and a bit scary to him. Walking on a leash is one of those things so he is working hard with his foster mom to learn that learning to go for a walk will just introduce him to more fun things! He has learned to walk on a leash inside and we just need to transition it to outside. Because of this, a fenced yard would be best for him until he gets used to walking on a leash. Beetie hasn’t had the opportunity to meet kids. He is a gentle boy but can be a bit clumsy at times so kids 8+ may be best for him. Beetie is the perfect balance of playfulness and your Netflix and chill partner. For dogs/puppies this covers spay/neuter, microchip, dewormers, flea and tick preventative, heartworm test (only over 6 months of age) and all up to date, age appropriate vaccinations. Cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and dewormed. We require an adoption application and a home visit prior to adoption. We are a group of pet lovers and advocates who are committed to targeted rescue. Starfish Animal Rescue is a licensed rescue that is run by an all volunteer staff.
