Adopt Irie a Black American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed dog in Kansas City

Irie is as sweet and gentle as can be! As soon as you meet her she will be sitting at your feet, tail wagging, asking for pets. She might get excited and give you a hug, but she's a very good listener and will get down if you ask her to. She is wonderful at walking on a leash and stays by your side, and takes treats very politely. She knows 'sit', and is working on 'lay down'. Teaching her new things is easy since she sure loooves her treats! Irie would like to meet other dogs before going home with them. Irie recently went on a Dog Day Out! Here's what our volunteer had to say: We had the best Saturday with Irie! We took her to the park and she was ready to play. She walks well on a leash (just a bit of pulling) but always stays close. We took her to McDonald's and my son ate in his car seat next to her without any issue. She loves to stick her head out the window. At home she napped and no accidents inside. She's very calm and listens well to sit. She seems very treat motivated and I think with a little practice would learn stay and rollover. She's just so good!Irie went on a second Dog Day Out! Here's what the volunteer had to say: Irie is a fabulous dog! On our day out, we took a long ride to my office and then back to my house. She did so great in the car, staying in the passenger seat calmly, even in a long accident stand still. She appropriately greeted people on the elevator and stayed at my feet while I did some emails in my office. No barking at all. At home, she was great with my 4 year old. She stayed when he told her to do so and did not chew any of his toys She did sort of play fetch with him with her own toys. She did not try to get on any of the furniture, but did put her feet up on a tall window to see out. She was not disturbed at all by his rowdiness or loud noises. She walks well on a leash and did not have any accidents in the house. She followed me from room to room and loved sleeping at my feet whenever possible. She would be a great addition to any family.Irie is living in a foster home.
