Buddy and Amber are a sweet, passive, bonded pair of 11 year old dachshund mixes that came to us after their owner passed away. They’re EXTREMELY attached to each other, and spend most of their time snuggled up in bed together. Their new owner needs to understand that they will be pretty fearful at first. After about 3 weeks, we really saw their fun, funny, and curious personalities shine through. They've been through a lot of changes in the past year and would do best with an owner who has experience with high-strung / anxious dogs, as their fear issues can be challenging at times. Amber, especially, is quite anxious and both of them panic any time they are separated. They would prefer a quiet, calm household.They’re crate trained and working on potty training. They do great when kept in a small space, but they are not completely reliable when left with free reign of the house. They love treats and lounging in front of the heater. They will need a house with a fenced yard, as they’re very nervous on a leash right now. Both Amber and Buddy do great with other dogs. They have not met any children under my supervision, but I do not expect there to be any issues. Amber and Buddy would be a great addition to any low-key household looking to give two sweet peas a second chance at life.
