Rusty is a cute, happy-go-lucky guy who is looking for a special home. His foster mom says that he's a wonderful dog who enjoys playing with her other small dog and going for walks. Rusty loves playing with toys, especially squeaky toys and will even fetch. He's been enjoying the great outdoors by hiking and wading in shallow streams. In his previous home, Rusty did live with a cat and did well with them. Rusty has a history of resource guarding his food so he should go to a home where his adopters can be respectful of his eating or work with a reward-based trainer on behavior modification. Rusty has been doing well in foster with managed meals and keeping him separate from other dogs and people during mealtimes. His foster is working with him on potty training and he's making fast progress in that department but will need continued training with his adopters. He is currently at a foster home and of you would like to schedule a meet and greet, you can call or visit the shelter 11:00am-6:00pm Sunday-Wednesday and Friday-Saturday.
