This poor dog has endured so much suffering. First, Cleo was found as a stray, then she was "fostered" through TAF and returned to the shelter SEVERELY malnourished. Next, due to a mistake by someone cleaning her cage with full strength cleaner, her paws were terribly burned and bloody. Cleo's luck turned around when she was adopted by a wonderful family. Unfortunately, repeated fights between she and another larger female in the home have brought this family to the well thought out conclusion that Cleo cannot stay permanently. Most likely, she should be an only dog, although we believe that she might do well with a mellow male companion. WE WILL ASSIST WITH CAREFUL MEET AND GREETS FOR ANY FAMILY WITH A MALE DOG. We do know that three medium to large females in one home has proven to be a volatile combination, and it is too much for Cleo, but... in between squirmishes, these dogs show each other a lot of love, even repeatedly kissing through the fence that now separates them. Cleo simply doesn't pick up on clues from the other alpha female and fights break out. Cleo is house trained, LOVES HER PEOPLE, knows various commands, and walks pretty well on a leash. She pulls in excitement when first leaving the home, but quickly settles into a nice walk with her family. Cleo's family will continue her leash training until adoption. No cats for Cleo- she seems too interested in the movement of the small animals that she spots on her walks. This sweet four year old girl has not had too many breaks, and she deserves a forever home of her own. Please, please consider this lovely dog.
