Ursuline was rescued from a hoarding situation in the French Quarter. She was living on the streets with 30 other cats and was very sick. We scooped her up and took her to the vet where she spent 2 weeks getting better. She is now in a foster home and is showing us how amazing of a cat she is! Ursuline is tall and lanky, and she has the longest legs and tail ever! Her back feet also turn out a little bit, giving her a waddling appearance when she runs. It’s the cutest thing! She is super friendly, and wants to follow you around like a puppy. She loves to talk, and demands attention at all times! Ursuline gets along well with other cats, but we do not know if she has ever been around dogs or kids. Given her good temperament and friendly disposition, she should do well with them given the proper introductions. Ursuline is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She is Feline Leukemia negative and Heartworm negative. She is FIV positive. FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, and all it means is that she is immune compromised, so if she gets sick or injured, she would need to go to the vet more quickly than other cats, because she may take longer to recover. She should also be indoors only. FIV cats can and do live long, healthy lifespans similar to other cats as long as they are well cared for. FIV cannot be spread to people or dogs. It can be spread to other cats, although it does not spread easily. FIV is not spread through casual contact, through eating together, grooming each other, or sharing litterboxes. It is only spread through deep bites. So Ursuline can live with other cats as long as they are friendly and there is no fighting. Ursuline can also be adopted as an only cat- she would love to be the center of attention! Although it may sound scary and has a stigma attached to it, it really doesn’t require any medication or special care. And cats with FIV can and do live normal lifespans. But it scares people away, before they even meet her they say no. Not to mention she is a black cat, and an adult. It’s like she has three strikes against her already.
