Adopt Elijiah a Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut Shih Tzu / Lhasa Apso / Mixed dog in

Location:
Colorado Springs, CO
Description:

Elijiah was found running around as a stray in southern Colorado. Elijiah loves car rides and chilling next to his person on the couch or bed. Elijiah loves playing and telling off the puppies he is in foster care with. His best friend who he cuddles up with at night is a female lab /husky mix. Elijiah does not like thunder but with a thunder jacket which he will have with him and some closeness with his person he calms down. Elijah can be picky with food and loves water so his water bowl must be kept full. Elijiah was bitey initially especially with the groomer and vet. Upon getting him neutered it was discovered he only has 1/3 third of his tongue, it is not a congenital defect. That being said he is being considered a special needs dog. Here are some things to consider when adopting him . When considering adopting a dog with a partial tongue, it's important to keep a few factors in mind to ensure the well-being and quality of life for the dog. Here are some things to consider: Health and Medical Needs: Speak with a veterinarian to understand the specific medical condition associated with the partial tongue and any potential health implications. Some dogs with partial tongues may have difficulty eating, drinking, or regulating body temperature. Ensure you are prepared to manage any medical needs that may arise. Feeding and Nutrition: Dogs with partial tongues may have difficulty grasping and manipulating food, which can impact their ability to eat and drink. You may need to modify their diet, offering soft or moist food that is easier to consume. Additionally, you may have to monitor their meals closely to ensure they are getting proper nutrition. Dental Care: Dogs with partial tongues may have difficulty keeping their mouths clean, which can lead to dental issues. Regular dental check-ups and cleanings may be necessary to maintain their oral health. Discuss dental care recommendations with a veterinarian. If you are up for the small adjustments needed to accommodate him you will be rewarded with a velcro dog who loves to be held and cuddled. https://www.fromforgottentoforever.com/adoptionapplication/
