Adopt Sammie a Gray/Blue/Silver/Salt & Pepper Shih Tzu / Mixed dog in Hillsboro

Sammie is a sweet 11 year old lady who loves to eat, sleep, and curl up near her people including her foster dog siblings. She recently lost her owners and understandably, has some separation anxiety and confusion. She does not do well with crates, pens, or being confined. When she is anxious or unhappy she may pace and and be vocal about it. She has been sleeping with her foster parents and foster dog siblings and has proven to be a good little bed buddy. She gets along well with the other small dogs at home and likes to snuggle with the older boy who is close to her size.Sammie has arthritis so she takes things slow and can't jump up on furniture. She has learned how to use stairs with practice. She is on medication to help. She will take short walks on a leash but likes a slow leisurely pace. She would rather go out and potty and then go right back in with her person. Sammie does not hear much and she may be starting to lose some sight. She can seem a little confused at times which seems to be worse at night.She has some potty accidents but it only seems to happen of she doesn't have direct access to the doggy door. She is used to wearing diapers to bed and when she doesn't have doggy door access. Sammie would do best in a mellow home where her person or people are home most of the time. If she does have to be left home alone, she would benefit from another small low energy dog to keep her company. No children for this old gal and apartment life may be too hard for her unless you are on the bottom floor with direct access to outside.
