I rarely see dogs that are truly red, but brindle red is especially rare, and this dogs name fits her coloring perfectly! This is Ember! Somehow this puppy faced girl is estimated to be almost 3 1/2 years old, she weights 42 lbs and because she is full grown, will only gain a few pounds as she settles into your home. With rescue our team makes educated guesses at both breed and age since we almost never have a history for a dog, and we believe Ember is a pit bull mix. What we do know is that Ember really does warm up a room! She has an attentiveness in her eyes, when we all met her there was a seeking in her eyes, hopeful maybe we were going to take her home but also eager to just connect. Love and treats are her love language and she bopped around for pets and worked her eyes at us for treats. I personally had treats that were far too similar looking to my finger and she needed a reminder which was which but as soon as she realized that she had been a touch too mouthy, I didn’t need to remind her again. The take-away advice is, don’t buy treats that look like fingers and also, be prepared to remind her to be gentle if you do. The element of her personality that stood out the most to me was her wide-eyed attentiveness. Once she finds her person, be prepared for an adoring dog that will learn quickly and follow you anywhere you let her. This girl doesn’t know any tricks and her leash skills need polishing, she has a basic understanding and is small which makes her incredibly easy to manage. Between her size and attentiveness, this girl is going to polish up beautifully on leash with just a touch of time. Ember is a wonderful candidate for apartment life! She is calm, small and quiet! More than I can say about most neighbors I have had over the years. If you have a home with a yard, thats never a bad thing, she will happily soak up all the moments of sun in her face while she naps in the grass. Ember is content with the company of other dogs but isn’t incredibly energetic and bouncy, she preferred the dogs that were calm and content like her the best. Ember is also cat-tolerant, showing respect of space and a peaceful curiosity when she met our house cat. I could see Ember living in a one cat+one dog+people kind of home and being in cozy, calm, heaven! So, if you are looking for a small, gorgeous and unique looking dog, who will look at you adoringly, keep you company on walks, and snuggle you on the couch- Ember is yours! She is ready to explore the world by your side and then rest the day away just the same, right by your side!
