Meet Falafel! She arrived at HSMC with her 2 siblings (Tzatziki and Pita who have both been adopted) through our TNR program. They were scared at first but settled in very nicely. All 3 siblings had scabies which they have been treated for. Once they were cleared of Scabies they were able to free roam around and explore. Unfortunately, staff came in one morning and found Falafel with zero ability to use her back left leg. X-rays were completed and she was presenting with acute paralysis in that limb. She was monitored by the Veterinary Clinic for 24 hours and luckily she was eating well and fully using the litter box. The best course of action was to keep her on complete cage rest, oral steroids, range of motion physical therapy and do a later recheck. Falafel is a fighter and did amazing through her healing process! She made a great recovery, and it is suspected that a ruptured disc is what caused the problem. This may happen again in the future so her adopters should monitor her activity level, especially when jumping down off furniture.
